The competition, which was co-ordinated by In House Crafts, ran from 28th October to the 29th November and was free to enter had 28 entries from local schoolchildren of all ages. Guest judges from Pure Art and the Waterfront Gallery chose the winners for each category, who were then gifted crafty prizes donated by Milford Waterfront. The cards were also displayed at the Sparkle with Santa event on the 14th December.
The winners were:
Cody Guays – In House Crafts’ Winner
Sienna Jobson, Coastlands CP School – Reception–Year 2 Category
Gwenllian, Coastlands CP School – Year 3-6 Category
Callum – Year 7-13 Category
Natalie Hunt, Activities and Events Co-ordinator for Milford Waterfront commented: “It is wonderful to be able to wish the residents of Rickeston Mill Nursing Home a merry Christmas with the entries from the design competition. Encouraging children to channel their creativity in this way is something that is very exciting in the run up to Christmas – and we are really pleased that In House Crafts has involved us in this special project again this year.”
Mandy Lanceley, Manager of Rickeston Mill Nursing Home added: “It was such a pleasure to have these beautiful cards donated by the children. It is such a simple idea but one that brings so much happiness to our residents. It was wonderful to see the smiles on their faces and I think it is brilliant that they are involving children in the lives of elderly people as I think it gives them all joy at a special time of year.”
