We’re sure we can all agree that it’s been a strange last year or so. We hope that we’ve been able to provide some joy to all of our visitors whether it be by attracting awesome new businesses to visit, sharing digital content to enjoy or by hosting a handful of safe events when they were needed most.
Here is a round up of what we got up to in 2021…
We started the year positively, as we spoke to Sandra from Spot On Dry Cleaners & Laundry in our popular Meet the Faces series, followed by a competition to bring some cheer on Blue Monday.
After a successful competition in January, we decided to do another! This time, we wanted to spread the love on Valentine’s Day and gave away a sweet treat from Scott’s Sweet Shop. We also caught up with Gwen from Talouies in our Meet the Faces of Milford Waterfront series and celebrated St David’s Day by teaming up with Healthaspire to bring you their mouth-watering recipe for a St David’s Day Bake.
It was a busy month of blog articles for us in March! We began by sharing some gift ideas we thought would be good for Mother’s Day, continued our Meet the Faces series by speaking to Dan from Martha’s Vineyard, launched the first of our development stories by featuring Cleddau House, announced that Celtic Collection will be managing the new hotel at Milford Waterfront, our tips for staying happy, and more!
Like March, it was another busy month of content throughout April. After a tough few months of lockdowns, it was great to feel glimpses of reality as we saw the re-opening of non-essential retail and outdoor hospitality as we celebrated with a competition to win lunch for family of 4 people. We also met Lee from CUB3D in our Meet the Faces series, explored the rich history of Barrallier House in our development story and highlighted the places where people could eat out at Milford Waterfront.
The weather started to get warmer as we neared the summer months. In May, we saw the re-opening of indoor hospitality and visitor attractions for people to visit, spoke to Owen from OG Barbers in our Meet the Faces series and explored the developments of Neptune House & Temeraire House.
As we approached the mid-way mark of the year, we featured our holiday properties The Shores Holiday Apartment and our Floatel Cabins which, without us sounding biased, are fantastic places to stay at the heart of Milford Waterfront. We also ran another competition consisting of a family ticket to Milford Haven Museum and a £50 voucher at Scott’s Sweet Shop, in addition to our latest development story blog which explored Victory House and Vanguard House.
Sun’s out, lots of blogs out! In July, we featured both Trwffl and The Scoop in our new Produced at Milford Waterfront series, celebrated the introduction of the Heritage Walking Trails, caught up with Sue and Colin from Milford Haven Museum in our Meet the Faces of Milford Waterfront series, and lastly continued our development story by exploring the rich history of the Old Customs House, one of Milford Haven’s oldest buildings.
Throughout August, not only did we put together a number of fun things that visitors could get up to in Milford Haven in the summer, we also shared how your four-legged furry friends could enjoy themselves here too such as licking away at a puppuccino, as well as speaking to Jane from Van Dyk’s Salon in our popular Meet the Faces of Milford Waterfront series. We’ll never run out of people to feature!
We saw the return of some events which marked the first ones of the calendar year! We loved hosting the free Torch Theatre Sunset Cinema which was put on for NHS & Care Workers to recognise their efforts throughout the pandemic, in addition to the highly anticipated and popular Milford Haven Round Table Beer Festival. We also featured CUB3D in our Produced at Milford Waterfront series and explored the developments of Sovereign House and Agamemnon House, the homes to some of Milford Waterfront's most popular eateries and a variety of independent shops.
In October, we spoke to Georgina from The Cheesy Cow in our Meet the Faces of Milford Waterfront series, highlighted some of the things that kids could do to stay entertained throughout the October half term, shared about the new homegrown businesses which opened at Milford Waterfront over the last few months, began to think about Christmas parties and announced the return of the Milford Haven fireworks display which was a great success.
It was a busy November for us! Firstly, we loved being able to see everybody enjoy themselves at the Milford Haven Fireworks Extravaganza. We continued to share our development story as we explored the Old Sail Loft and T Shed and featured The Fish Plaice in our Produced at Milford Waterfront series. We then entered ‘Christmas mode’ and began sharing all of our festive plans, including our Christmas Trail, Christmas card design competition, the free festive entertainment we planned for Saturday 4th December, our top 12 Christmas gift ideas, our Christmas film, and a competition to win a £100 voucher. We said ‘Christmas’ a fair few times there – we love this time of year!
December was a time for giving for us as we gave out lots of prizes from our competitions, including a one night stay in our Floatel Cabins and a cosy winter bundle on our social media channels. We felt a little bit like Santa – which is quite fitting as we caught up with the man himself as he featured in our Meet the Faces of Milford Waterfront series as he shared his excitement ahead of visiting all the good boys and girls in Milford Haven and the surrounding areas. He also loved how the whole waterfront was lit up which really brightened up the area.
We hope we were able to bring some joy to you this year, whether it be from a blog post we shared which gave you inspiration for gift buying, a competition you entered, if you stayed with us at our holiday accommodation, or shared a special offer from one of the many businesses here.
We have exciting plans for 2022 as we look forward to the opening of the Tŷ Hotel Milford Waterfront and a busy calendar of events, we can’t wait to share them with you all!
Here’s to a happy and healthy 2022,
The Milford Waterfront Team
